Add Business Days to a Date

Use this Add Business Days to Date calculator to quickly find the exact date after a lead time stated in business days. Weekends are excluded by default, and you can optionally exclude public holidays.

Ideal for shipping estimates, SLAs, payroll processing, project lead times, and any deadline expressed in working days. (Calculations run locally in your browser.)

Tip: use negative values to subtract business days.

If checked, “+1 business day” can return the same day when the start date is a business day.

Presets are optional. You can also add custom holiday dates below.

Custom holidays override everything: if a date is listed here, it won’t be counted as a business day.

When Should You Add Business Days to a Date?

Many timelines are written as “X business days” rather than calendar days. This tool helps you convert a lead time into an exact date.

How This Add Business Days Calculator Works

Step 1 – Pick a start date and a lead time

Select the date you start counting from, then enter how many business days you want to add (or subtract).

Step 2 – Skip weekends automatically

The calculator treats Monday–Friday as business days and skips Saturdays and Sundays by default.

Step 3 – Optionally exclude public holidays

Choose a country preset to exclude common public holidays, or add your own custom holiday dates.

What Counts as a Business Day?

A business day usually means a weekday when businesses operate (Monday–Friday). Depending on context, public holidays may also be excluded. This page supports both: weekends excluded by default, with optional holiday removal.

Examples

Example 1 – Adding 10 business days

If you start on March 1 and add 10 business days, the result typically lands about two weeks later (because weekends are excluded).

Example 2 – Subtracting business days (negative values)

If you enter -5, the calculator moves backwards 5 business days (skipping weekends/holidays).
