What Does “Next Birthday” Mean?
Your next birthday is the next time your birth month and day occur. Depending on today’s date, it can be in the current year or the next year.
How the Next Birthday Calculator Works
Step 1 – Create your birthday in the current year
We take your birth month and day and set it to the current year to see if it’s still upcoming.
Step 2 – Decide if it already passed
If your birthday has already passed this year, we roll forward to next year. Otherwise, we use the current year.
Step 3 – Compute the age you will turn
The age you will turn on your next birthday is the year difference between the next birthday’s year and your birth year.
Milestone Birthdays
- 🎉 18: commonly considered a milestone/adult birthday.
- 🥂 30 / 40 / 50: classic planning milestones.
- 💎 100: a once-in-a-lifetime milestone.
Leap Day (February 29)
If you were born on February 29, your “next birthday” depends on leap years. This page uses a practical rule: if the target year is not a leap year, we treat the next birthday as February 28 for date-based planning. For celebration-date preferences (Feb 28 vs Mar 1), use the dedicated leap-year birthday tool.
