Birthday rule (simple)
If your birthday in the target year is on or before the target date, you’ve already “turned” that new age. If it’s after the target date, you’re still the previous age.

Leap years and Feb 29 birthdays
If you were born on February 29, your “birthday” in non-leap years is handled by common calendar logic. Different jurisdictions and personal preferences may treat it as Feb 28 or Mar 1. This calculator follows standard Gregorian date behavior when mapping dates across years.
- Leap year target: Feb 29 exists, so comparisons are straightforward.
- Non-leap target: the nearest valid calendar date is used when constructing a “same month/day” in a non-leap year.
